Smita Pant said that business between India and Uzbekistan has increased manifold in the last few years. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, the two countries will discuss ways to improve connectivity and reduce bottlenecks affecting bilateral business and cooperation.
Considerable discussion is also expected on important decisions concerning cooperation in rare earth minerals. Pant said Uzbekistan is rich in natural resources and that Modi’s visit to Tashkent will include discussions on investment and technology transfer in the mining and rare earth minerals sectors.
The ambassador also highlighted the role of Bollywood in strengthening relations between India and Uzbekistan. She said Uzbekistanis are passionate about Indian films, serials and film stars, making cultural exchanges an important part of the relationship between the two countries.
Pant stated that India and Uzbekistan may take some important decisions to enhance cultural contacts during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
